Behind Our Boys

Behind Our Boys is a community-driven non-profit initiative dedicated to empowering disadvantaged boys through photography, art, mentorship and acts of dignity. Our holistic programme equips young boys with creative and professional skills while restoring their confidence and self-worth by providing essentials such as underwear, socks and nutritious meals.​

Founded by Mandy Mankazana, Mandy Plaatjie and Mthetheleli Shabalala, our organisation builds upon a legacy of transformation. Through tourism and cultural engagement, we have uplifted young boys and their communities, fostering resilience and pride.

Annual Christmas Campaign Each December, we launch a heartfelt campaign to ensure no boy feels forgotten during the holidays. We provide underwear, socks, nourishing meals and meaningful gifts, bringing joy and dignity to our young beneficiaries.

Vision: Soweto Wall of Fame We envision creating a Wall of Fame in Soweto to honour unsung heroes—everyday individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the community through kindness, resilience and service. This tribute will celebrate those who have shaped Soweto's spirit beyond political recognition.
